All Saints Presbyterian Church believes that our ultimate and final authority is the Word of God, contained in the sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments. Still, as a congregation which cheerfully stands in the tradition of the Protestant Reformation, we also acknowledge the great summaries of our Christian faith, historically preserved and confessed, and therefore, hold to something like a "book of confessions." This book of confessions includes The Apostles' Creed, The Nicene Creed, The Westminster Confession of Faith, and The Three Forms of Unity. The Three Forms of Unity are comprised of, The Belgic Confession of Faith, The Heidelberg Catechism, & The Canons of Dordt. The Heidelberg Catechism is divided into 52 sections so that a portion can be read, taught, or preached through each Sunday of the year. This year, during our worship service each Sunday, the congregation of All Saints Presbyterian Church will recite a portion of the Heidelberg Catechism. This is just one way to familiarize ourselves with our wonderful Christian heritage, as well as confess a portion of the faith, once for all delivered to the saints. |
